Privacy Policy
Last updated 13 August 2026
Nowai is a client-only app with no backend service and no user accounts. This policy describes what the app does and does not do with data.
Nowai does not collect, transmit, or store any personal or sensitive user data.
Data we collect
None. There is no account system, no analytics or crash-reporting SDK, no advertising SDK, and no server operated by us that the app talks to.
Data stored on your device
The app stores the following locally, on your device only, so that it can work offline and avoid repeating content:
- The fact categories you select during onboarding or in Settings.
- Which facts you have already seen, so they are not shown again until the pool is exhausted.
- Facts fetched from Wikipedia, kept for offline reuse.
This data never leaves your device. Uninstalling the app deletes it. On Android the app sets
allowBackup="false", so it is not included in cloud backups either.
Network requests
When you are online, Nowai may request additional facts from the public Wikipedia REST API
(en.wikipedia.org) to supplement the facts bundled with the app. These requests contain no
identifiers we attach — no account, no device ID, no advertising ID. As with any web request, Wikipedia’s
servers receive your IP address and standard request metadata; that is governed by the
Wikimedia Foundation Privacy Policy.
Tapping a source credit opens that source’s website — for example Wikipedia or another public data provider — in an in-app browser or your default browser. Once you are on that site, that site’s own privacy policy applies.
Children
Nowai is suitable for general audiences. It does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this same URL and the date above will change.
